Where:

Carmel Mission Inn, Carmel CA

Instructors (bios at the end of this page):

R. Mac Holbert (co-founder of Nash Editions)

Uwe Steinmueller (Digital Outback Photo)

What is this workshop about:

R. Mac Holbert and Uwe Steinmueller have extensive experience in creating masterful images. They share this knowledge in an accessible and intuitive manner to help workshop participants realize their vision.

Mac Holbert is not only a pioneer in fine art digital printmaking but has also has printed many seminal shows for photographers and institutions worldwide. Mac has the unique ability to pull out the best in an image while remaining sensitive to the photographer’s personal vision.

Uwe Steinmueller has been involved in digital imaging and digital output for over a decade. He is the author of one of the most comprehensive books on digital printmaking. Uwe will introduce several interesting photo techniques that will present workshop participants with new ways to express their artistic vision.
.
We recommend that you bring 4-6 of your digital images. These may be images you have worked on, images that have presented you with difficulty or even images that are unedited captures. Mac & Uwe will select images from the participants and take them through the optimization and output process to create a  final print. Participants will follow along onscreen as Mac and Uwe describe in detail the decision making process while outlining a time tested workflow that will insure your images are optimized in a logical and non-destructive manner.

This is a unique opportunity to learn from two of the best printmakers around.

Bettina and Uwe Steinmueller are born in Germany but live and work in the US for now over 10 years. Both work as a photographer team – Bettina with the prime focus on the artistic expression and Uwe handling both the art and the digital workflow. The main subjects are nature and urban landscapes and their hidden details. Bettina + Uwe’s work is known worldwide. They both run Digital Outback Photo (www.outbackphoto.com) which is one of the premier digital fine art websites in the world (6 million visitors per year).

Uwe is recognized as one of the leading photography workflow experts. He is not only using tools but has influenced many well-known products. Uwe has published numerous books in German (two times won the German “Photobuch Preis”) and English.
